ABOUT THE ROLE:

The SMU Apparel Designer collaborates with Women’s Design Director and the sales team to design product that fits the needs of the SMU business. Help concept, build trend boards and execute designs from conception to production stage.WHAT YOU'LL DO:* Create clear capsules by wholesale account that meet target margin and quality expectations.* Clearly define color palette that relates back to accounts.* Manage initiating seasonal graphics for off-price accounts.* Partner closely with Materials team in the selection of fabrics that meet cost and quality needs.* Partner closely with Product Management team for calendar development timelines per project.* Partner closely with Costing team to ensure garment components, fit, styling meet cost targets.* Ensure tech pack accuracy and timely creation of styles in Flex PLM.* Research off-price market to understand competitive landscape.* Develop strong internal cross functional relationships with Merchandising, Product Development, Technical design, and Materials to ensure product concept to production timelines are met.* Execute sketch updates post fittings and take clear notes.* Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment.* Partner closely with manager to understand workload priorities and development calendar.* Communicate challenges in a timely manner with recommended solves.* Knowledge of silhouette, fit, fabrication, construction, color use, sewing techniques, and trim.WHAT YOU'LL BRING:* Ability to identify market trends as they shift.* Responsible for maintaining accurate information in Flex PLM.* Knowledge and proficiency in both Photoshop and Illustrator.* Strong sense of color.* Creative and self-motivated.* Detail oriented.* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.* Ability to integrate feedback to meet internal objectives.* Reliably meet deadlines and work quickly.REQUIREMENTS:* 5+ years of applied experience working as an Apparel Designer.* Degree in Apparel of Product Design.* Understanding of garment production.* Advanced Adobe Programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign etc.) skills required.* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other basic computer programs.* Strong knowledge of Flex PLM.The pay range for this position is $90,000-$100,000/yr USD.**About Skechers**Skechers, a global Fortune 500(R) company, develops and markets a diverse range of lifestyle and performance footwear, apparel, and accessories.
