History:
Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20, and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Laboratory Director establishes and implements quality assurance programs and maintains standards and records that document compliance with regulatory agencies. Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel including the selection, orientation, training, assignments, evaluations, discipline, and discharge of employees. Ensures staff has the necessary training and competencies required to perform their duties by coordinating continuing education and providing in-services and orientations. Maintains appropriate personnel and patient records in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assists with budgeting, provides information about supplies, personnel, and equipment, seeks avenues of cost containment and plans long-term purchases or capital equipment. Is proficient in all areas, including phlebotomy. Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA/COLA Director for Martin County Hospital District (MCHD). CLS staff are required to perform from waived to high complexity testing.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university in Clinical Laboratory Science or related science.
Licenses/Certificates:
Must be registered and have a Board of Certification (BOC), or test eligible, in the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT).
Must be BLS certified.
Experience:
One (1) year experience as a Laboratory Director or section supervisor.
