Directs the daily operations of a large summer day camp program.
Essential Duties
Develop, schedule, and coordinate day camp activities.
Schedule, supervise, lead, and evaluate staff.
Institute and enforce camp rules and discipline/reward procedures for participants and staff.
Ensure participant welfare during all activities, trips, and transportation.
Ensure the proper handling of first‑aid and emergency situations.
Train and orient day camp staff and volunteers.
Peripheral Duties
Prepare program and staff evaluations.
Communicate with parents regarding participants' progress and special needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrates sports, games and craft activities to staff and participants. Accompany children on walks and public transit to outings. Administer First Aid/CPR if needed. Monitor participants by watching and listening. Shop for and deliver supplies to program sites.
Qualifications
Must have one year supervisory experience.
Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
Must be 18+ by time of hire.
Working Conditions Performs work in indoor and outdoor settings including multipurpose rooms, parks, playgrounds, beaches, and commercial recreation sites. Exposure to extended periods of direct sunlight and/or cool and damp weather is possible.
