FLSA Status: Part Time-Non-Exempt Pay Range: $13.60-$17.01-$20.41
Reports to: Gymnastics Coordinator Revision Date: 3.18.2026
POSITION SUMMARY Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Build members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact.
This position provides professional and high-quality coaching to all levels of the gymnastics team in a safe, educational, and fun environment, while also providing effective communication between team parents and coaches.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying the Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all members and community inquiries in a timely manner.
Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, and educational group lessons, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
Provide direct supervision and instruction to gymnastic participants in accordance with the YMCA Best practices, policies and procedures.
Assist with developing lesson plans and collaborate with Head Coach and other coaches with their implementation. Convey program information, surveys, and annual campaigns to participants.
Participates in staff meetings, training, events, reviews, and other scheduled events.
Set-up and maintain class equipment use and configuration and accountable for housekeeping in the gymnastics area, bleachers, cubbies, and program closet.
Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct.
Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS
Fundamental knowledge of gymnastics skills and the ability to demonstrate them.
Must have knowledge of proper use of gymnastics equipment.
Must be able to implement oral and written instructions.
Ability to lift equipment and spot children.
Provide hands-on spotting, corrections, and individualized feedback to help gymnasts build confidence and refine technique.
Adapt drills and progressions to meet athletes where they are, supporting a range of skill levels and learning styles.
1-2 years of previous gymnastics or related coaching or teaching experience.
1-2 years of previous experience working with children
5+ years of gymnastics or related coaching or teaching experience is preferred.
