
Recreation Specialist III (PT)

Overview
The City of Vacaville is currently accepting applications for Recreation Specialist III positions within our Parks and Recreation Department.
Responsibilities
Exercise technical and functional supervision of program staff.
Mentor the work of staff and volunteers.
Facilitate site meetings and attend required staff meetings.
Assist with managing site/program specific budgets.
Serve as liaison/point of contact for participants, parents, customers, and school sites.
Perform marketing and social‑media activities.
Recordkeeping and basic administrative duties.
Schedule staff.
Prepare written and verbal reports and correspondence.
Monitor, maintain, and safeguard operating funds.
Provide extensive customer service.
Oversee facility maintenance.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; twelve (12) semester units from an accredited college or university preferred.
Two (2) years of work experience performing increasingly responsible duties in a position equivalent to a Recreation Specialist II; volunteer experience may be considered if related.
Knowledge of social media and marketing program activities.
Strong customer service, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills.
Gymnastics: Six (6) months of gymnastics or closely related experience; USAG National Safety certification and professional USAG membership highly desirable.
Youth Services: College-level coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Psychology; one (1) year of work experience in a leadership capacity in a youth‑oriented or classroom environment required.
Adaptive Recreation: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certificate preferred.
Additional Requirements Positions may require a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record. Must be at least 18 years of age if required to drive vehicles for City business.
Benefits and Compensation These are part‑time positions at an hourly rate and can work up to a maximum of 129 hours per month. Some positions may require working irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Part‑time positions are at‑will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits and do not accrue leave time except for state‑mandated sick leave (40 hours per year).
