Job Summary The Children's Ministry Director at Canby Alliance Church plays a key role in nurturing a spiritually formative environment for children and families. This position involves providing vision, leadership, and support from nursery through 5th grade to enable children to feel known and loved, families to feel supported, and volunteers to feel equipped.

Missional & Visional Focus

Create a welcoming environment where every child is valued and encouraged to grow in faith.

Develop a discipleship pathway for kids to encounter Jesus, learn Scripture, and practice faith in community.

Champion family discipleship and support parents as primary spiritual influencers.

Cultivate a culture of belonging for children of all backgrounds.

Recruit, equip, and empower volunteer leaders to foster a team culture of encouragement and shared mission.

Integrate children’s ministry into the church’s broader vision for unity and direction.

Key Responsibilities Children's Ministry Leadership & Ministry Development (20%)

Develop a strategy and vision for children's ministry from nursery to 5th grade with a relational focus.

Encourage connections, conversations, and spiritual growth through ministry rhythms and experiences.

Establish a safe and nurturing nursery environment for the youngest children and families.

Create engaging spaces for kids and families.

Family Care & Discipleship Support (20%)

Integrate children's check-in into the church's assimilation strategy.

Facilitate family gatherings for connection and support.

Partner with the Lead Pastor for dedications, baptisms, and milestone events.

Weekly Ministry Operations (40%)

Prepare interactive curriculum and activities for engagement.

Ensure safe and welcoming classroom environments.

Manage check-in and logistics on Sundays.

Be a relational presence during worship services for kids, parents, and volunteers.

Communication & Administration (10%)

Maintain clear communication with families and volunteers.

Uphold safety protocols, background checks, and rosters.

Manage the children's ministry budget responsibly.

Coordinate events, trainings, and outreach for connection and community-building.

Other Duties as Assigned (10%) Occasional projects beyond the standard scope of children's ministry based on individual gifting and church needs.

Qualifications

Growing relationship with Jesus and alignment with the church's mission and values.

At least 2 years of experience working with children or families.

Track record of equipping parents and leaders.

Strong relational and leadership abilities.

Commitment to safe ministry practices.

Preferred: theological or ministry training, familiarity with family discipleship frameworks.

Hours & Reporting This is a non-exempt, hourly position with 22 hours/week, including Sundays. The Director reports to the Lead Pastor for setting ministry goals and assessing success annually.
