Position Overview REGULAR FULL TIME

- $22.00‑26.00/HR

SHIFTS:

Complete open availability – weekends required.

Position Summary As a Produce Clerk 2 Journeyman Stocker, your focus is on ensuring the highest level of execution of daily operations of the Produce Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service, address the needs of customers, and answer their questions in a timely and effective manner.

Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of produce (e.g., conventional, organic, seasonal, etc.).

Demonstrate a basic understanding of the financial needs of the Produce Department.

Assist with placing vendor orders and intercompany transfer orders.

Maintain produce on the sales floor (merchandising, facing products, pulling inventory, rotating perishable items, proper and accurate signage, product placement, etc.).

Responsible for breakdown and inspection of delivery/vendor orders.

Ensure deliveries are properly organized and stored in appropriate areas.

Assist with maintaining a clean and organized produce backroom, produce racks, and walk‑in cooler.

Assist with administrative tasks.

Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment.

Operate equipment (electric pallet jack, hand trucks, knives, etc.).

Create and sustain collaborative and productive working relations with coworkers and outside vendors.

Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.

Follow and ensure compliance with established procedures, including Weight and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.

Immediately report safety hazards and violations to supervisors.

Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment.

Work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.

Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Participate in competitive product buying while cutting a gross when needed.

Skills & Qualifications

18+ years old.

Grocery Retail Experience: 2+ years.

General knowledge of produce (local, conventional, organic, seasonal).

Experience with Microsoft Office and operations‑related applications.

Demonstrated leadership and employee development skills.

Demonstrated problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

Ability to support the successful flow of the department and act as backup when necessary.

Ability to effectively prioritize and delegate competing tasks in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Ability to follow directions and established procedures with attention to detail.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Team‑player who can also work independently with minimal supervision.

Clear and effective communication style, both written and verbal.

Basic math skills.

Conversational English skills required when working with customers.

Bilingual proficiency preferred.

Education, Certificates, Licenses

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

Food Handlers Certificate (ServSafe or ANSI compliant organization).

Electric Pallet Jack Certification.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Work with and around flour/grains, dairy, fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and/or other food allergens.

Constantly lift/carry 10 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Constant standing/walking.

Work requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and reaching (both above and below shoulder level).

Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.

Frequent to constant exposure to extreme temperatures from work in and around freezers, coolers, refrigerators, ovens, stovetops, grills, barbecue, etc., inside and outside the store in all weather conditions.

Consistent work in wet and dry conditions.

May require use of ladders or step stools.

Exposure to FDA‑approved cleaning chemicals (gas, fumes, chemicals).

Work with and around tools and equipment, including but not limited to knives, personal protective equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, six‑wheel carts, baler, etc.

Intermittent noise from equipment and machinery.

Wear non‑slip, water‑ and oil‑resistant closed‑toe shoes.
