About the Role We are seeking an energetic, student‑centered professional to support recreation programming, student engagement, and specialty activities that promote positive campus culture and healthy lifestyles. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with youth, facilitating recreational activities, leading groups, and creating meaningful programs that enhance the student experience.
This position is well‑suited for individuals with experience in:
Recreation, physical education, or youth activity coordination
Performing arts, creative arts, or cultural programming
Coaching, athletic instruction, or team leadership
Youth mentoring or behavior‑support programs
Group facilitation, event planning, or enrichment activities
Outdoor activities, water safety, or structured recreation events
You will collaborate closely with Recreation, Wellness, Residential Living, and other departments to provide safe, engaging, and inclusive programming that supports student development and contributes to a positive campus environment.
This is an onsite, student‑facing role requiring strong communication, consistency, creativity, and the ability to mentor young adults in both recreational and behavioral areas.
Your work directly supports student engagement, social development, cultural enrichment, and center culture.
What You’ll Do Recreation Programming & Student Engagement
Plan, implement, and support a diverse recreation program that encourages voluntary student participation.
Organize, supervise, and lead students in a variety of recreational, athletic, performing arts, and club activities.
Conduct recreation classes and specialty instruction (such as drama, dance, music, or creative arts).
Chaperone students during off‑center recreation trips and activities.
Coordinate recreation orientation and RAP programs for new enrollees.
Support the center’s creative arts and weight‑improvement programs.
Culture, Youth Development & Behavior Support
Model and reinforce positive employability behaviors aligned with Career Success Standards (CSS).
Mentor students and reinforce positive behaviors while addressing concerns through appropriate interventions.
Support a positive, safe, and inclusive campus culture.
Uphold and model safety practices in all recreation activities, including water‑based activities.
Program Operations, Safety & Accountability
Maintain accurate records of activities, participation, and program needs.
Report ethical concerns, safety issues, or policy violations as required.
Ensure safe use of equipment and act as a responsible custodian of center property.
Recommend opportunities for improving recreation operations and reducing waste.
Identify and communicate environmental health and safety concerns.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Two years of experience in recreation, physical education, or youth‑focused programs.
Current CPR, First Aid, and water safety certifications (or ability to obtain).
Ability to model and reinforce CSS‑aligned behaviors.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Computer proficiency and reliability.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Eligibility to work in the U.S. (I‑9 verification required).
Ability to pass a pre‑employment background check and drug screening.
