Overview
The Senior Wine Associate leads the team in charming and captivating customers through sophisticated customer service and wine expertise at the tasting bar, tasting lounge, or retail section of the bar. They ensure guest satisfaction through proper training of employees and adherence to company SOPs. They supervise a variety of tasks, including preparing food, stocking supplies, serving, proper cash-out procedures, Squirrel and CTUIT training, cleaning tables and counters, resetting/bussing tables, greeting guests, and answering questions. You will create and deliver first-class experiences for the traveling public by impressing customers with the Vino Volo experience. Must love and support their Team! Maintain standards for food, beverage, service, and atmosphere while building positive customer relations. Engage customers in an approachable but sophisticated manner and help them to discover and fall in love with Vino Volo’s wines, making them want to buy these wines by the bottle. Collaborate with the team to create a relaxed, refined, and enjoyable environment for customers in spite of the stresses, noise, and crowds of the airport environment. Deliver and coach employees to charm and captivate customers with a service level they have never before experienced at an airport, and rarely ever encounter at stores or wine bars outside the airport. Serve as a role model and provide accessibility to staff while developing leadership and motivational skills. Help train new team members in Vino Volo’s approach to wine, service, and sales. Exhibit efficiency in completing job requirements by working with a sense of urgency and consolidating tasks. Support programs to enhance staff morale and training, which includes writing schedules. Effectively lead the restaurant while the Manager is not present. Act with integrity and honesty while promoting the company culture. Operations
Assist with food, beverage, labor-management costs, receiving, storage, and inventory management. Lead each shift by delegating duties, assigning tasks, and following up with all team members. Demonstrate management and leadership ability through building effective relationships with customers, supervisors, team members, and purveyors. Must be proficient in each area of the bar to assist when necessary. Follow inventory control procedures to reduce product loss. Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant. Prepare food when necessary. Check food quality and temperatures throughout the day to maintain Health and Safety regulations. Ensure the security and safety of guests and team members through pro-actively following proper sanitation and safety procedures. Follow proper procedures and guidelines for opening and closing the restaurant. Work with manager to re-organize shift duties when necessary. Must demonstrate a commitment to getting the job done. Hours will vary on a weekly basis based on workload and deadlines. Working during weekends, holidays, and peak business periods may be required according to the manager’s schedule. A four-year college degree is preferred, and two years of college education is required. Two to four years of total work experience is required in one or more of the following positions: manager or wine sommelier at a well-respected full-service restaurant, manager or server at a wine bar or winery tasting room. Ability to lead and manage a team Knowledge of wines, including how to taste, evaluate, purchase and sell wines is preferred but not required Skilled at and enjoys delivering excellent customer service Highly responsible and reliable Detail-oriented Experienced with and proficient at using retail point-of-sale systems Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products Must be able to pass required TSA screening and background check 21 years of age or older (must be able to taste and evaluate product) Fully functional sense of smell and taste, needed to understand wines Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing Able to carry and balance a tray of full wine glasses; able to lift and carry a standard case of wine Other
