As an Employment Specialist, you will be primarily responsible for providing culturally and linguistically sensitive case management services to clients to prepare them for acquiring the skills needed for seeking, obtaining, and sustaining gainful employment. This individual is also responsible for seeking employment opportunities for clients by filling out applications, attending interviews, and coordinating logistics to secure employment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Administer accurate and timely client intake and assessment to assist with the completion of the Employment Services Plan;
Provide comprehensive case management to clients to encourage, motivate, and address barriers to employment opportunities while building relationships with community stakeholders;
Collaborate with the program’s grant constituents, volunteers, and interns assisting in employment activities with the client;
Communicate job opportunities using the client’s own network as well as additional resources;
Work with clients to follow up on possible employment leads;
Respond immediately to all job leads communicated by the job developer;
Partner with the job developer to address retention issues, communicating with employers and updating the job developer on progress;
Participate in team meetings;
Prepare a list of clients ready to interview for jobs for job development meetings (if applicable to program);
Maintain client case files, including eligibility, intake, assessment, progress, and required information;
Contact each client as required, maintaining a documented log of contacts;
Prepare client case files for review;
Collect, record, and report information to supervisor and colleagues in a timely manner;
Eliminate barriers to service accessibility by locating resources for childcare, transportation, interpreter, specific assistance funds, and home management;
Translate or access a translator for interviews, initial job training, or retention meetings as needed;
Coordinate and communicate with DHHS specialists regarding changed client information (where applicable);
Collect, translate, and distribute information regarding employment, language, medical, legal, social services, housing, and other support services available in the local county and surrounding communities;
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Work, or equivalent field (preferred);
Prior work experience in community development, business, or a child welfare agency in a social work capacity;
Bi‑lingual language proficiency required for some programs;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and effective partnerships across varied populations;
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
Demonstrated cross‑cultural sensitivity;
Highly motivated and able to work independently;
Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to change;
Accurate data collection and analysis skills;
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed;
Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite;
21 years of age with a valid driver’s license, at least three years of U.S. driving experience, a reliable vehicle, and completion of a motor vehicle records check;
Pass a criminal history screen and relevant child protection agency registry checks;
Commitment to the agency’s Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
