
Assistant Site Director, Horizons Summer Program

Job Summary
Responsible for supporting the Site Director in all Horizons activities, operations, and programmatic elements in both the summer and school-year programs. This position will assist the Site Director with fundraising, program logistics, program communication, marketing, and social media platforms for the Horizons program. It will also build strong relationships with Horizons students, families, staff, volunteers, and partners in the Paulding County School District and Kennesaw State University. The primary goal of Horizons is to reverse the trend of summer learning loss that adversely impacts the long-term success of students ranging from rising 1st through 9th grades.
Responsibilities
Manage electronic platforms for newsletters and school-wide communication, including updating the website with parent information, menus, and special events.
Support the Site Director with grant‑writing, special events, and publications, including proofing grants and assembling grant proposals.
Assist the Site Director in developing and maintaining relationships with donors and volunteers, and work with local businesses to promote fundraising nights.
Oversee administrative systems related to fundraising, including grant applications, donor acknowledgements, and reporting to foundations, corporations, and individuals.
Maintain professional relationships with community leaders, public schools, and national Horizons staff, as well as partners and the Horizons Atlanta Office.
Assist the Site Director in developing marketing and public relations materials.
Supervise the Instructional Team (Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Interns, Specialists) and oversee recruitment, scheduling, training, and hiring paperwork.
Coordinate teacher orientation and curriculum planning meetings to implement a thematic, project‑based summer curriculum focusing on reading and math skills.
Manage daily operations of transportation services, organize advisory board meetings, and coordinate field trips and enrichment activities.
Plan events with students and parents, including Info Sessions, Orientations, and End-of-Program Celebrations.
Analyze program assessments to determine educational effectiveness and observe student engagement to identify interventions.
Assist with food service processes, data instrument completion, and program database management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Current, valid Georgia Teaching certificate.
Five years of teaching experience, including elementary school and curriculum design in a child‑centered, risk‑free environment.
Experience in educational program administration, fundraising, grant writing, budgeting, and fiscal management.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, or a related field.
Experience with social media platforms, fundraising, and marketing strategies.
Experience working with low‑income families and/or diverse communities.
Leadership experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong passion for working with youth and a desire to transform their lives.
Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of best practices for school enrichment programs.
Proficiency with technology as a management and reporting tool.
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem‑solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail and follow‑up skills.
Strong customer service skills and phone and e‑mail etiquette.
