Assistant Manager, Sales
The Assistant Manager, Sales is primarily responsible for supporting the staff in the thrift store's daily operations and providing Employment Readiness leadership and training to program participants assigned to the thrift store. The Assistant Manager holds to the mission, vision, and core values of The Foundry, reports directly to the General Manager, and upholds Board of Directors' policies.
Responsibility Description Staff Management – Assist General Manager
Coach and mentor staff to meet professional development goals
Manage the team workflow by planning workloads, allocating tasks, and monitoring progress against goals
Oversee staff schedules to maintain coverage during all hours of operation
Communicate with team members regarding new initiatives, policy revisions, and ministry updates
Maintain safety standards by complying with operational objectives, ministry training, and reporting procedures
Responsible for relaying and confirming receipt of all Foundry-wide emergency messages to those in your department
Safety and Security
Set and turn off facility alarm(s) as scheduled
Coordinate with thrift store staff to facilitate safety training, including severe weather, fire, and hostile intruder
Daily Tasks
Serve as a liaison to the staff in the absence of the General Manager
Assume all duties of the General Manager as requested
Ensure that all store procedures and protocols are followed by staff, volunteers, program participants, and customers
Responsible for opening and closing the store as scheduled
Collaborate with Production staff to receive and stock inventory for the sales floor in a timely and efficient manner
Partner with the General Manager to maintain order, cleanliness, and safety of the sales floor, dressing rooms, and public restrooms
Schedule daily assignments for cashiers and program participants responsible for carry-outs
Provide cashier and carry out support as needed
Oversee cash register countdowns with assigned cashiers; secure monies and credit card receipts in the safe at the end of each shift
Assist Business Administration Office staff in daily counts and deposits
Oversee Loomis pickups and deliveries as required
Provide exemplary customer service and always present a professional attitude
Quickly resolve customer complaints to the complete satisfaction of management and the individual
Coordinate with management to provide staff training and cross-training
Follow protocol regarding incident and accident reports; coordinate 911 calls with management
Provide program participant progress reports for phase evaluations to store management; attend phase meetings as requested
Employment Readiness
Ensure that program participants consistently provide exemplary customer service
Communicate with recovery program staff on issues and concerns
Evaluate program participants per program phase guidelines and participate in weekly phase meetings (in person or via teleconferencing)
Coordinate with management to provide program participant training and cross-training
Submit program participant G.R.O.W. action requests as needed
Provide workforce training to participants in soft skills and technical skills when applicable.
Qualifications and Education Requirements Education
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Certificate, or GED.
Experience
One (1) year of retail management experience.
Requirements
Able to use a computer/tablet to perform job duties.
Must be able to work required overtime as assigned by the General Manager, including but not limited to evening shifts and special events.
Physical demands of this position include extensive standing and walking, lifting to 50 pounds regularly, and pushing and pulling bins, racks, and carts to 1,000 pounds with assistance.
You must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, and climb a step ladder approximately three feet in height to reach materials.
You must be able to work in a retail and warehouse environment, including exposure to dust and fluctuating temperatures.
You must be able to express yourself verbally and accurately, loudly, or quickly convey spoken instructions.
You must hear and understand speech in person, via telephone or other devices, and recognize work-associated sounds such as vehicle horns or emergency sirens.
You must have near visual and far visual acuity and clear peripheral vision.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to resolve issues calmly and efficiently.
