Overview
Senior HVAC Mechanic
is experienced in all phases of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating and assists leadership with daily operations, coordination of work, quality and service, achievement of goals and objectives, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. This individual serves as the technical resource for other team members through participation in quality control and improvement activities, staff development, and daily support to the team. The Senior HVAC Mechanic facilitates and monitors the work process of designated teams, including internal construction and maintenance projects. Proficiency with direct digital controls (DDC) and experience in all phases of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating is required. The role inspects, repairs and maintains HVAC systems and manages parts, supplies and equipment. The position adheres to operational and departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA). This role may lead the AC Shop in the absence of the Shop Lead and supports Central Utility Plant, Pipe Shop, and Electric Shop operations as needed. Training to support other shops will be provided. This is a departmental position and not AC Shop specific. Location & Schedule City/State: Norfolk, VA Work Shift: Rotating Responsibilities

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Required); Trade/Technical School Graduate or 3 years’ experience in lieu of diploma (Required) Certification/Licensure: Refrigerant Recovery (Type I or II, Universal) – Required; Journeyman HVAC License – Required; Valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver’s License – Required Experience: 3 years HVAC experience – Required; Refrigerant Recovery: Type I or II, Universal; Journeyman HVAC License – Required Benefits
