
Marketing Staff Assistant - Social Media

OVERVIEW
Under general supervision from the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Staff Assistant, Social Media Coordinator will manage university social media platforms, create content, implement strategies, build community, and analyze engagement data.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Create and manage content on all university social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, SGOCE, Presidential accounts).
Develop social media strategies that resonate with the target audience.
Ensure all posts are branded correctly and align with university guidelines.
Coordinate the university mascot, Freddy the Falcon, for social media content and events.
Hold social media advisory group meetings to collaborate with managers in other departments about online presence and marketing.
Plan, implement, and manage social media platforms to increase brand awareness and engagement.
Schedule and track a content calendar using Hootsuite.
Collaborate with departments, students, and ambassadors to create and promote content.
Market university-wide programs, events, resources, faculty, staff, admissions, SGOCE, and alumni content.
Assist with web updates and ensure digital collateral is correctly branded.
Attend campus events and capture content.
Coordinate content shoots with students and Freddy the Falcon.
Create social media ads and campaigns.
Assign content matters to student ambassadors and creators.
Track analytics through Hootsuite and HubSpot.
Ensure each platform remains on trend and properly branded.
Coordinate social media giveaways.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in social media and digital marketing.
Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with CapCut for video editing and Canva for graphic design.
Experience with Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or HubSpot is a plus.
Web maintenance experience preferred; familiarity with Drupal.
Ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously and coordinate content production.
Ability to work in teams and independently, and to work weekends for events.
Must successfully pass a background check (CORI) required by the university.
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION Full‑time, exempt, benefits‑eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit. Union title: Staff Assistant. Salary range: $55,000 to $60,000, commensurate with education and experience. This position is not eligible for H‑1B sponsorship. The university conducts criminal history and sexual offender record checks.
