About the Role

Dish Room Attendant supports daily operations by providing clean and sanitized china, flatware, utensils, glassware, supplies, and other equipment used to prepare foods or serve our guests. This role is essential for safe foodservice operation and reports to Sutton Commons management. Key Responsibilities

Serve as a representative of Roanoke College, displaying courtesy, tact and respect in all interactions with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Serve customers with enthusiasm in a positive and friendly manner. Apply proper methods of safety and sanitation as instructed by the VDH and Dining Services. Ensure cleanliness and proper storage of all dishware, glassware, utensils, and other equipment. Maintain the cleanliness of the dishroom area and equipment. Help maintain the safe operation of the dish machine by routine inspection, cleaning, and safe use of chemicals. Wash pots, pans, large supplies and equipment in a 3‑compartment sink. Safely operate garbage disposal. Vacuum the commons before and after lunch. Complete station assignment responsibilities and help elsewhere as needed. Follow policy and procedures as established by Dining Service Management. Alert managers to discrepancies, equipment or product damage. Ensure daily and weekly cleaning tasks are completed as required in the dishroom. Perform other duties as required. Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities

Availability: mornings, weekdays and weekends required. Meticulously maintain a clean and safe food service environment. Work in a fast‑paced environment. Solve problems and work independently. Positive communication with guests and co‑workers is essential. Required to obtain ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire. Equal Opportunity Employer
