This role offers a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned accounting leader to operate at the intersection of technical finance, private equity advisory, and portfolio company transformation. The Director will step into interim or project-based controllership and senior accounting leadership roles within PE-backed organizations, acting as a trusted advisor to both management teams and investors. The Director will influence financial integrity, reporting quality, and compliance standards while supporting broader transformation initiatives. This is an ideal role for a technically strong accounting leader who thrives in consulting-style, client-facing environments with exposure to complex financial structures. Accountabilities:

Lead interim controllership and senior accounting functions within PE-backed portfolio companies, ensuring operational stability and financial accuracy Own and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and GAAP-compliant financial reporting Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting Manage accounting teams and mentor junior staff while ensuring high-quality deliverables and efficient workflows Serve as a key liaison with private equity sponsors, auditors, tax advisors, and senior management stakeholders Conduct variance analysis, KPI reporting, and financial performance commentary to support strategic decision-making Ensure compliance with debt covenants, lender reporting requirements, and audit standards Identify control weaknesses and implement process improvements across accounting and reporting functions Support FP&A teams with budgeting, forecasting, liquidity analysis, and working capital insights Assist with ERP implementations, system enhancements, and reporting automation initiatives Requirements: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership roles Strong technical accounting expertise with deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards CPA designation strongly preferred Prior experience in private equity-backed companies, public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firms), or consulting environments Proven ability to lead financial close processes, audits, and internal control implementations Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency and experience in financial reporting tools Experience working in consulting or multi-entity / portfolio-based environments highly valued Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data for both finance and non-finance stakeholders Ability to operate independently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with multiple concurrent engagements Exposure to M&A transactions, carve-outs, or purchase accounting considered a strong advantage Increasingly strong ability to leverage AI and automation tools to improve efficiency and output quality Benefits: Competitive compensation aligned with senior consulting and PE advisory roles Opportunity to work across multiple private equity-backed portfolio companies Exposure to high-impact financial transformation and value creation projects Flexible engagement structure with dynamic, project-based responsibilities Collaboration with senior PE sponsors and executive leadership teams Professional development through complex, high-visibility accounting and finance initiatives Opportunity to shape accounting operations, systems, and reporting frameworks at scale Fast-paced, high-autonomy consulting environment with diverse industry exposure How Jobgether works: We use an AI-powered matching process to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
