Sales Estimator
The Sales Estimator is primarily responsible for selling crane and/or rigging services to businesses and industrial or commercial establishments through in-person or telephone contact. This position will work closely with customers to understand required specifications and scope of work, and assist the sales and operations teams by drafting proposals, determine and monitor overall project costs including materials or equipment needed, and manpower or labor requirements. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Actively and consistently contact leads and manage prospect lists. Develop positive relationships with existing and new customers and build a solid customer base of recurring business. Coordinate job walks and assist with customer bids/estimates to accurately price projects and gather scope of work information. Administer historical records by maintaining data on market / target areas and customer sales. Develop highly effective relationships with customers (internal and external), business partners, operations management, and support staff. Organize and manage projects and related data to ensure work order accuracy and work orders contain all necessary information. Stay informed of industry trends and changes in the target market area through research and monitoring competition. Develop professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, trade shows, reviewing periodicals, or participating in professional societies. Monitors competition by compiling information on pricing, products, suppliers, delivery schedules, or merchandising techniques. Assist in finding or developing resolutions to customer complaints and offer ongoing support. Compile reports of customer issues and offer recommendations to management. Actively participate in sales meetings. Assist with collections and accounts receivables as needed. Local travel required. Perform other duties as necessary and requested. Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education): High school diploma or equivalent, associate's degree preferred. Minimum two (2) to five (5) years of experience in estimating, preferably in rigging, crating, logistics, construction, or industrial services. Previous experience in fast paced construction environment preferred. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Outlook and Power Point with advanced Excel and data entry skills. Good understanding of customer or MEI specific software or the ability to learn quickly; knowledge of and prior experience with SalesForce preferred. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders. Must have excellent organization skills; be detail oriented. Is self-directed and self-motivated, with good time management skills; demonstrated ability to work under deadlines and specified timeframes effectively. Professional appearance and attitude. Establish good relationships quickly and keeps a customer-focused demeanor. Comfortable with cold-calling techniques; practices good closing skills. Handles rejection professionally, with the ability to maintain good customer relations. Effectively able to maintain discretion and confidentiality of employee and customer information as appropriate. Knowledge of OSHA and general job site safety standards (especially for rigging and industrial environments). Ability to multi-task and process multiple activities successfully and accurately. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Normal, climate-controlled office environment. Extended time sitting using a computer, keyboard/mouse, and telephone. Will be exposed to site-specific situations that may include climbing stairs or ladders, walking over uneven or rough terrain, and working in indoor or outdoor environments with exposure to inclement weather.
