A high-performing acute care hospital in Northern Virginia is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead a large, complex perioperative service line. This executive-level role provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across multiple surgical platforms, including inpatient and outpatient surgery, endoscopy, robotics, and cardiovascular services. The Director partners closely with executive leadership and physicians to drive growth, quality, physician alignment, and operational excellence. Responsibilities include: Providing strategic leadership for all perioperative services, including operating rooms, endoscopy, and specialty surgical programs Setting and executing a long-term vision for surgical services growth, innovation, and market differentiation Maintaining strong collaborative relationships with surgeons, anesthesiology, nursing leadership, and executive teams Overseeing daily operations, staffing models, throughput, and surgical scheduling optimization Leading evidence-based practice initiatives to ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant patient care Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards Directing performance improvement initiatives focused on quality outcomes, patient experience, and efficiency Managing departmental budgets, capital planning, and resource utilization Developing, mentoring, and retaining perioperative leadership talent; supporting succession planning and career development Utilizing data and metrics to drive decision-making, accountability, and service line performance Required qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Nursing Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice Minimum 3+ years of surgical services experience Minimum 3+ years in a leadership role within perioperative services Preferred qualifications include: Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) CSSM (Certified Surgical Services Manager) Ideal for senior perioperative leaders ready for a high-visibility, growth-focused Director role, surgical services directors with experience in complex OR environments and advanced robotics, and leaders who excel in physician alignment, operational scale, and strategic program development.
