Technical Writer II, (Hardware)

Your Impact As a Technical Writer for our Product Enablement team, you'll collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering to create content that promotes customer understanding of our products and services. You’ll devise efficient content strategies and enable customer success through detailed documentation, applying AI technologies to improve documentation process efficiency. What You'll Do Write and update release notes, end‑user, administrator, and developer documentation, and UI strings for Axon products. Build deep customer empathy and continually improve documentation based on customer feedback. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as Product Management, Product Design, Engineering, Customer Support, Training, Marketing, Account Management, and Sales. Perform content analysis and develop documentation plans for new features and products. Evangelize best practices for technical communications across Axon, including AI workflow enhancements. Partner with the training team to promote content reuse and efficient content and learning plans. Work in a content management system to create, review, and deliver our content to multiple platforms. Assist with documentation translation workflows and processes. Use content authoring and other software to create, review, and deliver technical content to customers. Implement AI technologies to improve content development, from generating initial drafts to automating translation and improving quality control of documentation. Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to ensure documentation reflects the latest updates and user experience guidelines. Evangelize best practices for technical communication within cross‑functional teams. Contribute to special initiatives as needed. Location This role is based in one of our R&D hubs (Atlanta, Denver, Seattle, Scottsdale, or Boston) and follows a hybrid schedule: onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays unless there is an approved accommodation. Reports To Senior Manager, Product Enablement What You Bring 5+ years experience in technical writing or a related discipline. Demonstrated ability to apply AI tools to accelerate technical content production, balancing speed and quality. Ability to write for diverse audiences, including non‑technical end users, IT experts, and business decision‑makers. Experience producing user documentation (installation guides, configuration guides, online help) and writing for a broad portfolio of products; experience with both hardware and software is preferred. Strong knowledge and application of style guides and industry practices. Experience writing in HTML and Markdown editors. Project management experience. Experience with systems and tools: MadCap Flare, Atlassian JIRA, Adobe InDesign. Desired experience: law enforcement agencies, criminal justice or other public safety organizations; cloud computing, networking, related computer hardware; UX copy; basic how‑to video content. Axon is a total compensation company; base pay awarded is dependent upon level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and other factors.
