Marketing and Communications Assistant
Legal Services of North Florida has an opening for a full-time (35 hour/week) Marketing and Communications Assistant in the Tallahassee office. Work for a non‑profit law firm, with 140+ employees in eight offices across North Florida, that seeks legal justice while understanding the value of work‑life balance. Our work is supported by grant funding and allows us to handle about 9,000 civil legal cases in a year for low income and marginalized people and families.
This position is in‑person in our office in Tallahassee, FL. The Marketing and Communications Assistant supports the Marketing and Communications Department. This includes processing internal content requests, organizing, assembling, and preparing marketing content for distribution. This entry‑level role is responsible for turning internal requests into clear, accurate, and on‑brand materials using established templates and processes. The position contributes to content development across multiple areas, including event promotion, sponsor recognition, clinics, outreach efforts, and evergreen legal education content. The role also supports simple website updates. The position operates with day‑to‑day independence, requiring strong personal accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage assigned projects from start to finish without ongoing oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in creating, editing, and adapting copy for websites, social media, and outreach materials, including plain language content for public audiences.
Repurpose existing legal and educational content into evergreen social media and digital content.
Edit and assemble content using templates and tools such as Canva and other intuitive design or video editing platforms.
Develop and assemble content for event promotion, including sponsor benefits, announcements, and event‑related materials.
Support promotion of community engagement activities, including clinics, outreach events, and public education efforts.
Work with events and marketing teams to organize and maintain promotional content and timelines.
Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Specialist to support digital content strategies, particularly for evergreen and legal education content.
Support the Communications Department by collecting and maintaining client stories and outreach content.
Administrative support and content organization.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
1–2 years of experience in communications, marketing, or an administrative role (internship and volunteer experience acceptable).
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including basic copywriting and plain language writing ability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general comfort learning new software systems.
Familiarity with social media platforms and content development practices.
Comfort working in design and content tools such as Canva, as well as an interest in learning additional design or video editing platforms.
Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sendible, Planable, SocialBee) is preferred.
Other software this position may work with includes Canva, Adobe Suite, Descript, RenderForest, ElevenLabs, Meta Ads, WordPress, and similar tools.
Entry level salary of $38,000 for candidates with the minimum qualifications. Final salary offers will be based on the candidate’s experience. Comprehensive fringe benefits package includes:
