Overview
The EHS&S Technical Writer is responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The EHS&S Technical Writer will primarily focus on the development of Environment, Health, Safety, and Security standards, skill checks, self‑assessments, job aids, and certain other technical writing activities.
Responsibilities
Develop and follow style guide(s) to ensure consistency and efficiency
Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension
Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions
Meet with subject‑matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed
Analyze information required to develop or update policy, procedure, and form documentation
Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team
Maintain a document library
Consult with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather and analyze their input as it relates to the development of new content and the modification of existing content
Desired Skills and Experience
BS or BA degree ideally in English, Communication, Business Administration, Technical Writing, or equivalent experience (BS or BA preferred, but not required)
One to two (1‑2) + years of experience creating content for non‑technical users; manuals, guides, and instruction documents for professional use
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast‑paced environment
Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills
Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Ability to check all technical material for consistency and accuracy
Excellent project management skills to create trackers and provide updates to stakeholders
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines
Exceptional oral and written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
Ability to describe key activities as simple processes/flow diagrams
Strong attention to detail, record‑keeping, and proofreading skills
Strong critical thinking skillsAbility to work independently and function as part of a small global team
Ability to quickly learn new systems, technologies, and methods
