Job Summary The DEF Rates and Regulatory Strategy Manager / Director will play an integral role in supporting regulatory and legislative initiatives at Duke Energy Florida. This position requires a strong understanding of regulated utility accounting and finance, coupled with a strategic approach to advancing business objectives within a complex regulatory environment. Key Responsibilities Calculate, analyze, and communicate regulated revenue requirements, rate base, earnings, taxes, and cash flow impacts to support ratemaking and legislative strategies. Participate in the management of general rate cases by engaging in activities such as strategizing, benchmarking, researching, reviewing, and drafting testimony and exhibits. Provide regulatory support for the development and implementation of business initiatives, ensuring appropriate cost recovery mechanisms are in place. This includes identifying potential regulatory opportunities and proposing effective solutions. Effectively communicate regulatory and cost recovery concepts to both internal and external audiences, including internal management, external regulators, and customers. Represent the company as a witness in regulatory proceedings. Basic / Required Qualifications Rates and Regulatory Strategy Manager Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, mathematics or other related degree In addition to bachelor's degree, eight (8) years minimum of related work experience Rates and Regulatory Strategy Director Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, mathematics or other related degree In addition to bachelor's degree, ten (10) years minimum of related work experience Desired Qualifications Strong knowledge of accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Keen attention to detail, with the ability to identify data irregularities and maintain a high level of accuracy. Ability to influence others and gain support for proposals and recommendations. Strong time management skills, with the capacity to meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to foster effective working relationships. Experience in utility and/or regulatory work. Experience with Utilities International "UIPlanner" software. Advanced education such as an MBA or Master's degree. Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent. Working Conditions Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility. Primarily a normal office environment with extensive use of a computer. Ability to work remotely two days per week. Minimal travel required. Overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines, particularly during rate case periods.
