Overview
The senior public relations strategist plays a crucial role in crafting compelling human‑interest stories and strategic communications, specializing in copywriting and editing for agency communications. The role includes direct collaboration with the president & CEO on select communications and supports public relations, marketing, and advertising efforts, including high‑impact and time‑sensitive communications, all while promoting the mission, vision, and values of Heritage Christian Services.
Salary
Pay for this position: $70,878 / yr - $76,697 / yr. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Responsibilities
Identify and develop human‑interest stories that align with the company's mission, vision and values.
Partner directly with the president & CEO and senior leadership on select communications.
Write and edit content for agency communications including the annual report, newsletters, brochures, websites, social media, and public relations materials such as media releases, essays and urgent communications. Also write for direct mail and email campaigns, radio scripts, advertising copy and messaging platforms.
Build and strengthen the agency’s relationships with journalists and media personalities.
Organize public relations events for media coverage, including news conferences, reporter visits, and community activities.
Ensure content is accurate and adheres to the agency’s brand and style guidelines, including AP Style.
Contribute to and monitor social media.
Support agency‑wide marketing and communications work with a focus on high‑priority initiatives and leadership‑driven communications.
Assist with administrative tasks, event support, and other duties as assigned.
60% writing, editing, interviewing, research and fact‑checking
40% strategic public relations support, executive communications, media relations and other PR/media responsibilities and duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
Associate’s degree in communications or related degree
3 years of experience in PR, journalism or a related field
Exemplary skills in research, interviewing, writing/storytelling and editing
Valid driver’s license that follows Heritage Christian’s motor vehicle record standards plus reliable transportation to and from work
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related degree
