KMKnyc, New York, NY, United States

Senior Account Executive – Sweaters & Knits (Consultant)

Full‑time Consultant | 1‑Year Contract (Renewable) | Hybrid | Competitive Base + Uncapped Commission

Our client is a vertically integrated global manufacturer specializing in sweaters and knits, producing for retailers across mass, off‑price, specialty, and premium — including Walmart, Victoria’s Secret, Express, Burlington, Marks & Spencer, Zara and Michael Kors to name a few. With three fully owned production units, the company produces 100% cashmere, 100% merino wool, 100% lamb’s wool, wool‑blend products, and both local and imported fancy yarns. As one of the strongest sweater manufacturers in the category, we are expanding our U.S. wholesale business and seeking a Senior Account Executive (Consultant) with deep sweaters/knits expertise and established relationships in the off‑price and specialty channel to help build this division from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

You’ll lead U.S. sales for a full range of sweater and knitwear product — from mass programs to wool/cashmere blends — with no minimum order quantity when pricing aligns. This role focuses on opening new accounts, pitching seasonal product, developing programs, and partnering closely with our overseas merchandisers (25+ years of experience), U.S.‑based designer, and NJ back-office handling costing, tech packs, SAP/BlueCherry, and production.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Full support from merchandising, design, and production
  • Sharp pricing + flexible margins (we own our factories)
  • Ability to scale quickly if you land a large program
  • No inherited accounts — a true build opportunity
  • Travel only as needed for buyer meetings and market
  • 1‑year full‑time consulting contract with the option to renew

What Success Looks Like

  • New accounts opened
  • Orders booked
  • Programs developed and grown

Must‑Have Experience

  • Proficiency in sweaters and knits is required — candidates must have hands‑on experience selling sweaters/knitwear with strong understanding of yarns, gauges, stitches, and construction
  • Experience selling to retailers such as TJM (Marmaxx), Burlington, Boscov’s, Von Maur, or similar off‑price/specialty accounts
  • Proven ability to open new accounts and build programs from scratch
  • Strong costing, pricing, and margin negotiation skills
  • Experience working with overseas factories, merchandisers, or production teams
  • Ability to manage a full sales cycle: pitching, development, costing, and order execution

Compensation

  • $135K base
  • 2% commission on invoiced + collected revenue
  • No cap
  • Commission paid within one week of customer payment
  • There are no medical/dental/vision benefits for this role, as this is a Consultant

Who Thrives Here

  • Sellers who are entrepreneurial, self‑directed, and energized by building something from the ground up
  • Individuals who can speak confidently about sweaters/knits and partner closely with buyers on product development
  • Strong communicators who collaborate well across time zones and functions
  • Sellers who enjoy fast‑paced environments with minimal red tape and high autonomy
