Market Research and Sales Development Intern (Unpaid)

This is an unpaid internship. No wages or salary are provided. The role is intended for currently enrolled college students seeking hands-on experience in B2B market research and early-stage startup operations.


About Us

We are an early-stage PropTech startup building autonomous emergency dispatch software for the trades industry, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. We are currently in active market validation and looking for a motivated intern to help us understand our market directly from the people in it.


What You Will Do

- Conduct structured discovery phone interviews with small business owners in the trades industry using a provided script and framework

- Qualify and categorize contacts based on business size, current workflow, and pain points

- Maintain organized research profiles and notes using our internal tracking tool

- Attend weekly check-ins with the founding team to debrief on findings

- Contribute to a market research summary report at the close of the internship


What You Will Learn

- How to conduct B2B discovery conversations and qualify prospects

- How early-stage startups validate product-market fit before launch

- Go-to-market strategy and market segmentation fundamentals

- How to track and manage a research pipeline using CRM-style tools

- How to turn qualitative field research into actionable business insights

Full training is provided before your first call. No prior sales or research experience is required.


Whom We Are Looking For

- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in business, marketing, communications, or a related field

- Comfortable making phone calls and holding natural, unscripted conversations

- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to follow a structured process

- Genuinely curious about how small businesses operate

- Able to self-manage in a fully remote and flexible environment
