Sales Assistant

Gem-Pack Berries is seeking a highly organized Sales & Inventory Assistant to support key retail accounts within our fresh produce division. The role will play a critical part in managing inventory flow, order accuracy, and communicating between sales, operations, and distribution centers. The ideal candidate understands the fast-pace of perishable products and can proactively manage inventory, forecasts, and order execution to ensure strong retail performance.
This is an in-person role located in Oxnard or Santa Monica, CA.
Job Responsibilities: Retail Account Support: Support the Sales Lead with daily order management, confirmations, revisions, and coordination with operations to ensure accurate and timely execution Support retail programs, ads, and promotional volume planning Track customer forecasts and align with available supply Communicate inventory availability and adjustments to internal teams Help manage retail distribution center allocations and load planning
Inventory Management: Monitor daily inventory by item, pack style, and region Track inbound and outbound shipments to ensure accurate availability Assist with allocation decisions during tight supply periods Monitor aging product and help prioritize movement Reconcile inventory discrepancies with warehouses and operations Support transitions between growing regions (California, Florida, Mexico, etc.)
Operational Coordination Work closely with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure on-time shipments Assist with resolving shorts, overages, rejections, and delivery challenges Maintain accurate data in inventory and order management systems Prepare weekly inventory and movement reports for the sales team
Education and Qualifications: 2+ years experience in produce, perishable goods, or food distribution preferred Experience supporting retail accounts or high-volume customers Strong Excel and inventory system skills Detail-oriented with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and follow-up skills Comfortable working with changing supply and daily adjustments Must have ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and holidays, especially during peak seasons.
