2-4 years of professional work experience within the industry (utilities/telecom/power distribution), if not directly with distribution design
Design software experience
SolidWorks/MicroStation/AutoCAD or any 2D or 3D drafting software experience

Day to Day: An employer is seeking a Distribution Designers to join an Engineering Consulting firm in the Rock Hill, SC area. This position will provide engineering oversight and underground utility design support for residential and commercial development projects on behalf of the City of Rock Hill. They will be responsible for designing and redesigning power distribution layouts for a large Energy Supplier in the Carolinas under the direct supervision of the engineering manager, and will be working directly with the City of Rock Hill. They will be tasked with designing layouts and redesigning grids for the client as needed. The ideal candidate will have a background in power or utilities distribution with a strong will to learn and grow with a company. Responsibilities include: 1. Development Engineering Oversight Serve as the engineering point of contact for underground utility aspects of private development projects Review developer submittals for compliance with City standards and utility requirements Coordinate with City staff, developers, and other consultants during project execution 2. Underground Utility Design Perform underground electric distribution design for residential and commercial developments Develop layouts including conduit systems, transformer placement, switchgear, and service points Incorporate City Construction Units (CUs) and standards into designs 3. Permitting & Documentation Prepare and support underground utility permit packages as required Develop construction-ready drawings suitable for City review and contractor use Respond to City comments and revise designs accordingly 4. GIS / ESRI ArcMap Integration Utilize ESRI ArcMap for design development and plan preparation Ensure accuracy of GIS-based designs and alignment with City mapping requirements Coordinate data consistency between design drawings and City GIS records 5. Coordination & Constructability Collaborate with developers, surveyors, and contractors to address constructability issues Support resolution of field conflicts and underground constraints Assist with design clarifications during construction as needed 6. Client & Stakeholder Interaction Represent company professionally in meetings with City staff and external stakeholders Communicate clearly on technical issues, schedules, and design intent Support long-term relationship building between the company and the City of Rock Hill
