Education and Experience: An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of experience in customer service Licenses and/or Certificates: N/A Your Purpose & Day-To-Day Journey
A typical day as a Customer Accounts Specialist in Utilities is fast-paced, interactive, and centered on delivering reliable service to the community. You will ensure every transaction is accurate and properly recorded. Throughout the day, you might post payments using automated systems while verifying that account information is complete and correct. You may assist customers in person, over the phone, or in writinganswering questions about billing, explaining policies, setting up new or reconnected services, and help them understand everything from rate changes to water conservation guidelines. As issues arise, you'll dig into account histories, resolve billing discrepancies, and coordinate service orders for everything from routine connections to urgent concerns like high water usage or service interruptions. Each interaction is an opportunity to provide clear guidance, troubleshoot problems, and ensure customers feel supported, making your role essential to both daily operations and overall customer satisfaction. Physical demands: Walking, sitting, hearing, seeing up close, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions. Work environment: Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment and is nearly absent from disagreeable elements (e.g., irate customers, extreme noise, heat, odors, heights and/or dust).
