Position Summary - The Director of Operations is responsible for leading, optimizing, and scaling all operational functions across Sage’s commercial janitorial portfolio. This role oversees multi site service delivery, ensures contract compliance, strengthens client relationships, and drives operational excellence through strong leadership, strategic planning, and disciplined execution. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast paced environment and can elevate both team performance and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Execution • Oversee day to day operations across all janitorial, and day porter accounts, ensuring consistent, high quality service delivery. • Oversee contracts and performance, ensuring high quality service is delivered. • Develop and implement operational systems, workflows, and best practices to improve efficiency, quality, and accountability. • Develop and maintain work schedules, staffing plans, and supply inventories. • Ensure all sites meet or exceed contractual scope of work, safety standards, and company expectations. • Lead operational transitions for new accounts, including staffing, training, and equipment deployment. • Develop new clients’ relationships. Client Relationship Management • Serve as the senior point of contact for key clients, handling escalations with professionalism and urgency. • Conduct regular site walkthroughs, quality audits, and business reviews with clients. • Identify opportunities to expand services, strengthen partnerships, and increase client retention. • Maintain a deep understanding of each client’s expectations, culture, and operational needs. • Attend and represent company sponsored client events.
Team Leadership & Development • Lead and mentor Area Managers Supervisors, and Office Staff to ensure strong performance and accountability. • Collaborate closely with our Human Resources and Accounting departments to support compliance and financial processes for seamless operational alignment. • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training programs to build a skilled, reliable workforce. • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and corrective actions when needed. • Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance & Compliance • Establish and maintain a robust QA program, including inspections, KPI tracking, and corrective action plans. • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, safety protocols, and company policies. • Oversee chemical handling, equipment maintenance, and supply management across all sites. • Implement safety training and enforce proper use of PPE.
Financial & Budget Oversight • Manage labor budgets, staffing allocations, and overtime control to ensure profitability. • Review and approve supply orders, equipment purchases, and vendor contracts. • Support pricing strategies, contract renewals, and cost saving initiatives. • Analyze operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Strategic Planning & Growth • Collaborate with leadership to develop long term operational strategies and expansion plans. • Support business development with operational insights, site assessments, and proposal input. • Lead operational readiness for new markets, service lines, or large scale accounts. • Drive innovation in cleaning methods, technology, and workforce management.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. • 10-15 years of experience in the janitorial, cleaning, or building related services is commercial real estate. • 5-10 years supervising the work of others required. • Bilingual (Spanish)
