Furniture / Interior Designer Internship (Los Angeles)

We design and furnish short-term rentals, Airbnb properties, and hospitality-style units throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. In this role, you’ll work directly with the owner to help create polished, client-ready spaces from concept through installation. What you’ll do Create mood boards and design concepts for individual rooms and full units Measure spaces and develop basic furniture layouts and space plans Build FF&E lists including furniture, décor, lighting, wall art, linens, and kitchen essentials Source products from approved vendors such as Amazon, Wayfair, IKEA, and Living Spaces Revise designs based on client feedback, typically 1–2 rounds per room or unit Potentially maintain a simple project tracker for ETAs, backorders, and substitutions Coordinate during install week to make sure the final setup matches the approved design Deliverables you’ll own Mood board and overall style direction for each unit Basic furniture layout plan Itemized shopping list with links, quantities, and pricing Revision notes and final approved version Install checklist showing what goes where Requirements Current student or recent graduate in interior design or a related field Strong design sense and ability to work within a defined style, especially hospitality, modern, and neutral aesthetics Familiarity with at least one of the following: Canva, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, SketchUp, or AutoCAD Strong communication, responsiveness, and ability to meet deadlines Nice to have Interest in short-term rentals, staging, or hospitality design Understanding of durable, budget-conscious furnishing choices Ability to source replacement options when items go out of stock Time and structure Part-time, approximately 5–10 hours per week Preference for candidates in Los Angeles or Orange County for occasional site visits Fully project-based structure that works well with a school schedule Compensation Paid per project, based on speed and skill : very high likelyhood of a salary position following this Opportunity for steady ongoing work if performance is strong Pay increases over time as speed, reliability, and trust with client-facing projects are proven
