$65,000/yr - $70,000/yr, based on experience

As an Editor, you will be responsible for the preparation of book manuscripts and materials and the overseeing of schedules, ensuring the editorial team meets its deadlines. In conjunction with the acquisitions, book design, and production departments, you will process the book from inception to publication, managing teams of writers, editors, and graphic designers to support established creative strategies and ensure content follows tone and style guides.
What You'll Do
Work independently and accurately to edit and proofread printed material, including jacket copy and cover mechanicals, from original manuscript stage to final copy
Ensure that text and style comply with the Company's standards and guidelines regarding clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of English language skills and strong grammar spelling skills, comparison proofing abilities, and attention to detail
Help determine and check placement of illustrations and text on book pages. Prepare any new front matter. Write and/or suggest changes to content to improve book readability, conciseness, and style
Use online research tools to check and verify facts on assigned titles
Create project calendars, ensure other departments, including Acquisitions Editorial, Design, Production, and Marketing adhere to the deadlines and deliverables of the publishing schedule
Manage freelancers and perform related duties as assigned
Be able and willing to work overtime to meet publication deadlines as necessary
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in a related field
4-6 years of relevant experience
Ability to meet deadlines, problem-solve, and coordinate with other departments
Demonstrated and constructive approach to meeting and resolving challenges
Strong organizational and computer skills, including Google Suite, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, databases, and content management systems
Experience using Title Management - preferred
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and pivot
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of initiative
