Opportunity
Join a Top 10 design firm as an experienced Plumbing Designer in our Northeast practice. As an integral member of the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) team, the Plumbing Designer will have the ability to design a broad range of plumbing systems, including specialized plumbing systems, from conceptual design through construction documents. The role also includes QA/QC of documentation and mentoring other plumbing designers, engineers, and interns.
Key Responsibilities
Work in conjunction with the design team from conceptual design through construction documents on the design of various plumbing systems.
Design, size, select, schedule, and specify plumbing system components and equipment.
Develop conceptual design options and work through design concepts with the design team and client to produce final construction documents.
Produce plumbing design documents from schematic design through construction documents using Revit, including calculations and specifications.
Organize project requirements with minimal direction.
Maintain knowledge of codes and regulatory requirements applicable to plumbing design.
Manage deadlines and prioritize assignments efficiently.
Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other team members.
Mentor plumbing designers, engineers, and interns in plumbing design and foster a collaborative environment.
Ensure compliance with company design standards and requirements.
Review shop drawing submittals, RFIs, and provide responses.
Perform site observations to ensure plumbing systems meet design intent.
Capabilities and Credentials
Demonstrate understanding of client, project, and team requirements.
Demonstrate complete understanding of design software and how to apply it to company procedures.
Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.
Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
Excellent writing skills.
Excellent problem‑solving skills.
Keen attention to details.
Able to work as a member of a team.
Able to work efficiently in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment.
Education and Experience
Degree in Drafting/Design from an accredited college or technical school.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience designing plumbing systems.
Certified Plumbing Design (CPD) credential is preferred.
Pay Range Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP)-$114,500.00 - $166,100.00 Annually
Pay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
