A Snapshot of Your Day (Position Overview)
Siemens Energy is looking for a media relations professional with 3-5 years of experience who wants to play an active role in telling meaningful stories about how our technology and people are energizing North America. This position is an ideal fit for someone who already understands the basics of proactive and reactive media relations, can confidently engage with reporters on story development, and has experience applying emerging tools - including AI and mobile video - to modern storytelling in the energy sector.
Responsibilities Media Relations
Track local and national media coverage and flag relevant stories, trends, and opportunities for proactive storytelling opportunities. Provide regular media reports and insights.
Research, build, and maintain targeted media lists and relationships with reporters in key markets where Siemens Energy has major facilities, projects, or customer activity.
Support media outreach efforts by drafting pitches, follow ups, briefing materials, and coordinating media events and site visits.
Content & Visual Storytelling
Develop stories for Siemens Energy’s owned and earned channels.
Capture short form video and photos using a cell phone, including interviews, b‑roll, and behind the scenes content. Edit quick‑turn video content for social and digital platforms using mobile or desktop tools.
AI in Communications
Use AI tools to support media monitoring, research, summarizing coverage, and drafting content. Be on the forefront of how AI is changing journalism and public relations and follow best practices to ensure accuracy, quality, and responsible use.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
3‑5 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications (in‑house or agency). Ideal: experience in energy, industrial, infrastructure, or other technical industries.
Strong writing, editing, and research skills and able to translate complex topics into engaging stories.
Comfort juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams), experience using AI tools for communications or media work, and hands‑on experience shooting / editing video on your phone.
