Job Summary The Director, Global Finished Goods Quality is responsible for ensuring Carhartt’s finished goods uphold the brand’s promise for world class durability. Specifically, they are responsible for the execution of the quality component of finished goods from handoff through bulk production. This will be through close partnership with the Product Development, Sourcing, Supply Chain Operations and Quality integrity teams. They will play an integral role in the business relationship and production process of finished goods vendors by ensuring conformance to requirements, driving the strategy and adherence to process controls and supporting correction action plans when issues arise. This position is responsible for ensuring all finished goods meet Carhartt’s quality and compliance requirements through the leadership of a global Finished Goods team. This position will provide leadership and clear direction to all quality functions related to finished garments that directly supports Carhartt’s culture of quality.

Associate Responsibilities

Coach, mentor and develop a team of finished goods leaders and associates, across both the Eastern and Western Hemisphere .

Ensure the remote Quality Assurance team members have the structure, process and technology to guarantee rigorous inspection, audits, CAPA and RCA procedures are in place across all assigned factories.

Develop and manage the Quality team strategy to ensure finished goods integrity in bulk production and the qualitative and quantitative results and KPIs that support these processes.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with owned facilities as well as suppliers, CMT and FP contractors globally to ensure uniform application of Carhartt quality processes and conformance to requirements. This includes development of written specifications and methods to measure performance.

Assist with leadership and direction to the global quality team. This includes but is not limited to hiring, performance reviews, coaching, performance management, training, projects, etc.as well as support of the Quality leadership team and the overall Quality goals and strategies.

Maintain ongoing understanding of manufacturing capabilities and technologies applicable to garment construction, fit, laundry, etc.

Develop and support the Quality team’s responsibilities when finished goods are resourced and multi-sourced to ensure quality standards are executed with excellence.

Drive processes and strategies to ensure effective communication both internally, among the various stakeholders, and externally with suppliers.

Collaborates with Sourcing to on-board new and current vendors as well as establishing and a Quality-specific vendor score-carding process and approach.

Partner with Carhartt leadership to ensure alignment and linkage to all strategic and tactical plans.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience required. Master or MBA is preferred.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of 7 years’ leadership/management experience required

Minimum of 11 years of experience in Finished Goods Development/Sourcing, Global Finished Goods Quality or Product Integrity for a global apparel brand.

Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes related to apparel finished goods

Advanced understanding of the complexities of leading a Global, remote team, that must directly support all factories where Carhartt product is produced

Basic knowledge of RSL, WRAP, social compliance laws and requirements required

Working knowledge of raw materials (fabric, trims, washes and color)

Bilingual preferred, specifically Korean, Spanish or Mandarin

In-depth knowledge of best in class Quality KPIsand strategies to meet KPI targets

Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with all levels including management and both internally and with vendors.

Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Typical office environment; cubicle/office setting. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required.

Willing to work some weekends if necessary.

National and international travel required (up to 75%).
