The

Director, PreConstruction

oversees the mid to late-stage project lifecycle to ensure renewable energy projects are optimized, de‑risked, and fully prepared for handoff to Execution. This role manages a regional team responsible for engineering, estimating, scheduling, contracting, and cross‑functional alignment to support a high‑value project pipeline. The position drives strategic improvements to the preconstruction operating model, strengthens technical and project management capabilities across the team, and provides clear insights and recommendations to senior leadership. Additionally, this leader serves as a key interface with EPCs, EORs, Development, and other internal stakeholders to ensure consistent, high‑quality project delivery across the portfolio.

Role Responsibilities

Lead the regional preconstruction team to de‑risk and optimize mid to late‑stage projects, ensuring they are fully optimized, shovel‑ready, and effectively transitioned to Execution

Oversee team resourcing, workload balancing, and prioritization for priority projects and those advancing into offtake RFPs

Drive continuous improvement of the preconstruction operating model, including strategic initiatives, playbook updates, and team‑wide training

Coach and mentor direct reports to strengthen project management, technical skills, and stakeholder engagement; manage team roadmaps and resource plans to ensure consistent coverage through PTO, leaves, and attrition

Frame key project‑level and portfolio‑level decisions and provide clear, actionable recommendations to senior leadership

Participate in regional EPC strategy development and oversee EPC contract negotiations; lead negotiations when necessary to meet portfolio objectives

Maintain and grow strategic partnerships with EPCs and EORs to drive portfolio‑wide optimization and enhance long‑term contracting outcomes

Lead weekly cross‑functional director meetings to ensure organizational alignment, facilitate director‑level decision‑making, and resolve portfolio‑wide issues

Support the creation and review of offtake RFP materials, ensuring clear articulation of costs, schedules, risks, and assumptions; present content and address questions during leadership meetings

Oversee and approve all FID‑level materials, including estimates, schedules, and risk assessments

Lead regional value‑engineering efforts to improve cost, schedule, constructability, and project readiness

Oversee BTA project engineering, EPC selection and negotiation, and BTA contract negotiations to ensure commercial, technical, and legal alignment

Provide expert input during design reviews, site optimization discussions, estimate reviews, and schedule reviews

Manage forecasted spend across the regional project portfolio and support multiyear planning (MTP) activities

Identify systemic issues or recurring themes across projects and lead initiatives to improve the preconstruction operating model and enhance project value

Serve as a key liaison to Development and other stakeholders as a subject‑matter expert in the preconstruction operating model and solar, BESS, and wind technologies

Job Requirements and Experiences

A degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.

Extensive experience in project management in preconstruction and construction phases preferred.

Experience in renewables preferred

A minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships

Demonstrates desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space

Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams

Strong leadership and communication, and the ability to meet deadlines

Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables

Ability to multitask, while working independently and as part of a team

Motivated self‑starter, goal‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving abilities

Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds

Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable

Detail‑oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
