The opportunity Our Government & Public Sector (GPS) Digital Engineering practice is helping organizations solve complex problems through purpose‑led transformation. To achieve this mission, a diverse and talented team from around the globe are creating innovative digital experiences that help our clients succeed and thrive.
Our practice combines an understanding of the public sector's diverse mission needs with private sector leading practices. We respond to each client's issues by bringing together highly skilled professionals across our Consulting, Assurance, Tax and Strategy and Transactions service lines. This integrated approach provides the support and flexibility to meet the unique requirements of our clients.
You will join a talented group of professionals who are advising U.S. government agencies with digital strategy, customer experience, process improvement, technology effectiveness, digital architecture and program integration.
Your key responsibilities
Collaborate with clients to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring that the final product meets their needs.
Design and develop user interfaces that are not only functional but also enhance user experience.
Write clean, maintainable code and create specifications that support business objectives.
Actively participate in the design of software components, using experience to translate requirements into technical design and tasks.
Interact and communicate effectively with teammates, clients, stakeholders, and executives.
Assist with providing estimates on assigned tasks.
Independently write quality code that is simple, reliable, and scalable.
Analyze and fix moderate to complex problems during development and support; document and communicate results appropriately.
Participate in white‑boarding sessions, impact analysis and explore methods and tools to improve the overall development process.
Learn new client information quickly, translating data modeling, process modeling, and revision control systems.
Have a strong understanding of agile delivery and development methodologies.
Have proficiency in application development tools and quality assurance practices.
In addition to your client responsibilities, you will also fulfill senior‑level responsibilities within the firm such as recruiting events, interview nights, internal training, and continuously improving technical skills. You will also understand and follow all workplace policies and procedures, including Independence policies.
Skills and attributes for success
Experience gathering and analyzing requirements.
Ability to design and develop user interfaces.
Experience participating in the design of software components.
Strong communication skills with teammates, clients, stakeholders, and executives.
Independent code quality and small‑scale solution writing.
Rapid learning of client information and translation into data & process modeling.
Deep understanding of agile delivery and development methodologies.
Proficiency in application development tools and quality assurance practices.
To qualify for the role, you must have
Bachelor's degree.
Candidate must be able to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Experience with Microsoft Power Pages (Portals) and Liquid.
Extensive knowledge of C#, SQL, JavaScript, HTML.
Experience with JavaScript UI frameworks such as React or Angular.
Experience integrating with external systems.
5+ years of relevant total experience.
Comfortable working in‑person as needed.
Work may be required to be completed at client, EY and/or contractor sites, with travel up to 20–30% or more.
Ideally, you'll also have
Expertise in developing written and visual communication products.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with clients and identify engagement follow‑on opportunities.

Competitive compensation and benefits package with a base salary range of $102,500 to $187,900 (US), and higher ranges for selected metro areas.
