Credit Officer
The Credit Officer is responsible for underwriting, managing, and monitoring an assigned portfolio of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loan relationships. This role reviews new and renewal loan requests, performs detailed credit analysis, recommends loan structures, and presents well-supported approval recommendations. The Credit Officer also provides ongoing portfolio management through continuous monitoring, annual reviews, covenant compliance oversight, and servicing modificationsdelivering high levels of responsiveness and service to internal partners and clients. Responsibilities
Underwrite and structure owner-occupied C&I credit requests sourced by Relationship Managers, applying bank policy, risk appetite, and sound credit judgment. Perform borrower and guarantor analysis (financial statements, tax returns, A/R and A/P agings, projections, and industry/market trends) to assess repayment capacity and validate risk ratings. Prepare clear credit approval recommendations, including sources/uses, collateral analysis, covenant packages, guarantees, and repayment support. Evaluate operating performance, leverage, liquidity, cash flow, and collateral, documenting key risks, mitigants, and any policy exceptions. Complete cash flow and (as applicable) global cash flow analysis; interpret third-party reports (credit reports, field exams/audits, appraisals, environmental and other due diligence). Provide ongoing portfolio management, including annual reviews, renewals, amendments, modifications, and continuous risk monitoring. Monitor covenant and reporting compliance; follow up on exceptions and coordinate remediation plans with internal partners and clients. Partner with Relationship Managers to communicate approvals/declines, conditions, and ongoing monitoring requirements; support client/prospect calls as needed. Drive process discipline and continuous improvement to enhance turnaround time, accuracy, and client experience. Qualifications
Education/Experience: Requirements Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. 3+ years of banking experience in commercial lending. At least one (1) year of formal Credit Analysis training or formal equivalent bank commercial credit training. Combination of education and experience will be considered. Soft Skills Experienced in complex commercial lending, financial structuring and credit arrangements. Educated of Commercial & Industrial credit underwriting policies and procedures to be able to apply them and possess advanced knowledge of (GAAP), taxation, and business law. Possess strong credit skills and be knowledgeable of credit policies and have working knowledge of credit and financial analysis, including cash flow analysis, balance sheet analysis, profitability, liquidity, and solvency analysis. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Problem solving and analytical skills to identify problems and present them to the appropriate parties. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficient in MS Software, (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook).
