Job Summary 14 News, the Tri‑State's News and Weather Leader in Evansville, IN, has a rare opening on our Meteorology team. The person in this position is expected to bring a weather delivery that includes accurate forecasting, high energy, and a real sense of urgency in their weathercasts.

This position covers weekend weather shifts in addition to filling in on other shifts and severe weather coverage as needed. The role also serves as a reporter with other special projects and duties as assigned, working closely with the weather team to create content for the weather blog and social media. The applicant should be knowledgeable in IBM Max platforms.

Duties / Responsibilities

Anchor weekend shows (Sat 6‑10, Sun 5‑10)

Update 14news.com at least twice each day

App updates and social media posts

Create weather storytelling content and graphics for all platforms

Assist other meteorologists during severe coverage

Fill in for weekday meteorologists

Work with the IBM Max platform

Storm tracking with Max Storm

Provide daily streaming weather updates as assigned

Create revenue‑generating content and ideas

Make school and community appearances on behalf of the station

Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field.

1‑2 years reporting experience/live reporting preferred.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent news writing and visual storytelling ability.

Familiarity with digital video cameras, non‑linear editing, and social media platforms.

Ability to lift 35‑40 lbs of gear.

Valid driver’s license.
