Director, Logistics & Operations Procurement

Salary Range: $145,000.00 To $165,000.00 Annually KMM is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Director of Procurement to lead and scale our procurement operations within the telecommunications sector. This role will be responsible for driving supplier strategy, optimizing inventory and demand planning, and ensuring accurate forecasting to support business growth and operational efficiency.
A critical component of this role is the ability to source parts directly from OEMs, reducing reliance on intermediaries, improving cost efficiency, and ensuring supply chain reliability. The Director will build direct procurement channels, negotiate pricing and availability with OEM partners, and develop long-term sourcing strategies that align with KMM’s growth.
This role requires strong familiarity with key telecommunications product categories, including copper cable, fiber optic cable, and a wide range of telecommunications minor materials (connectors, hardware, consumables, and accessories), ensuring informed purchasing decisions and effective supplier alignment.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in telecommunications procurement, strong OEM relationship management, and a data-driven approach to inventory optimization and forecasting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Procurement Strategy & Execution
Lead end-to-end procurement strategy across telecommunications products including copper cable, fiber optic cable, and telecom minor materials
Source and negotiate pricing directly with OEMs and key suppliers
Develop and manage RFQs, ensuring competitive pricing and favorable terms
Establish procurement policies, processes, and performance benchmarks
Manage $325M in annual procurement spend while driving year-over-year cost reductions
Ensure supplier compliance with contractual, regulatory, and operational requirements
Inventory Management & Optimization
Lead inventory strategy across core product categories (copper, fiber, and telecom materials)
Implement inventory optimization practices to balance cost and service levels
Ensure accurate item setup and data integrity across systems
Identify opportunities to reduce carrying costs and improve working capital efficiency
OEM & Supplier Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with OEM partners
Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic suppliers
Identify new vendor opportunities and evaluate supplier performance
Negotiate contracts, SLAs, and long-term partnership agreements
Demand & Supply Planning
Own demand planning processes aligned with sales forecasts and business goals
Develop supply plans to ensure meeting customer Service Level Agreements while minimizing excess inventory
Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, finance, customer service, and operations teams
Partner closely with Finance, Sales, and Operations to align procurement strategy with revenue, margin, and operational objectives
Forecasting & Analytics
Manage forecasting models to improve accuracy and reliability
Monitor and report on forecast accuracy metrics and continuously refine methodologies
Utilize advanced Excel modeling and data analysis to support decision-making
Job Requirements Required Experience
8+ years of procurement or supply chain experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role
Strong background in telecommunications industry procurement
Proven experience working directly with OEMs and managing supplier relationships
Demonstrated experience sourcing and managing categories such as copper cable, fiber optic cable, and telecom minor materials
Hands-on experience with demand planning, supply planning, and forecasting
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or equivalent ERP preferred
Bachelors Degree in Business or Finance (Masters preferred)
Technical & Analytical Skills
Advanced Excel skills (modeling, forecasting, pivot tables, data analysis)
Strong understanding of forecast accuracy metrics (e.g., MAPE, bias, variance)
Experience with ERP systems and item setup processes
Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
