We are looking for an exceptional Senior Director of Experience Design to lead our Management Liability (ML) value stream. This role is the primary XD owner for one of BSI's most critical and complex business areas, partnering directly with ML business and technology leaders to embed experience design at the heart of the stream's strategy.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned design leader who is equally at home in a boardroom and a design review. They bring sharp business acumen, deep XD craft, and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders while developing a high‑performing team of designers. They are outcome and ROI‑oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, and skilled at translating complex business priorities into clear, compelling design direction.

In this role, you will lead a team of 4‑5 XD practitioners aligned to the ML value stream, providing strategic direction, active coaching, and quality oversight across their work. You will be embedded in ML planning forums and product development processes, ensuring XD has a seat at the table before decisions are made. You will partner with ML business and technology leaders, drive design direction for the Guidewire (Strategic Platform) implementation, and contribute to cross‑BSI XD initiatives in partnership with the Group XD Lead and peer SD.

What Will You Do?

Define and steward a clear experience vision and roadmap for ML, grounded in user needs and aligned to business priorities. Translate business goals into measurable experience outcomes and report on XD impact using the BOX measurement framework.

Lead, coach, and grow a team of 4‑5 XD professionals. Set clear goals, provide active feedback, conduct performance reviews, and build individual development plans.

Serve as the primary XD voice for ML while embedded in leadership forums, strategic planning sessions, and product development processes. Build trusted relationships with ML business and technology leaders and advocate credibly for users and experience quality at every level.

Provide design direction on complex, high‑stakes initiatives including the Guidewire (SOR + RQI) implementation. Ensure quality and rigor of research, design, and measurement deliverables. Maintain consistency with BSI XD and enterprise design standards.

Partner with the Group XD Lead and Surety Senior Director to ensure consistency in XD approach across BSI. Participate in BSI XD leadership forums, contribute to shared practices and standards, and surface patterns from ML that have function‑wide implications.
