We are seeking an Associate to join our Opportunistic Private Credit & Asset Backed Finance team. The Asset Backed Finance sub‑strategy focuses on delivering strong risk‑adjusted excess return over investment grade corporates for insurance balance sheets, with a focus on privately originated asset backed opportunities across a range of collateral types and sectors including supply chain finance, equipment finance, natural resources, and infrastructure assets, among others.

The qualified candidate will have a strong foundation in structuring and underwriting asset backed financings, with exposure to underwriting and surveilling collateral and working with originations platforms across multiple asset classes. The ideal candidate is highly analytical and detail‑oriented, with the ability to support underwriting, structuring, execution and surveillance workstreams. The candidate should have experience working with portfolio companies, rating agencies, banks, and legal partners, and an interest in deploying capital in bespoke transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing Support : Assist in identifying and evaluating high‑quality asset backed opportunities, supporting the development of strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and forward flow programs aligned with the firm’s investment strategy. Contribute to the structuring of bespoke transactions across a range of collateral types and counterparties.

Due Diligence : Conduct quantitative and qualitative due diligence across potential investments, including collateral evaluation, financial statement analysis, and company performance assessment, and coordinate third‑party workflows with counsel, rating agencies, and other parties to support transaction closings.

Financial Modeling & Analysis : Build and maintain detailed underwriting models by analyzing assets, evaluating historical performance and facility structures, and running scenario and sensitivity analyses to support investment decisions. Assist in preparing investment memoranda, presentations, and supporting materials for investment committee discussions.

Execution & Documentation : Support end‑to‑end transaction execution by preparing term sheets, assisting in the negotiation of credit and partnership agreements, and coordinating transaction documentation under senior team guidance.

Portfolio Monitoring and Surveillance : Monitor existing portfolio investments, prepare performance reviews, and flag emerging risks or issues to portfolio managers to support ongoing risk and exposure management.

Market Research : Perform industry and market research, including competitive landscape analysis, sector trends, and collateral performance benchmarking to inform investment strategy and sourcing priorities.

Ad Hoc Projects : Work collaboratively with senior team members on ad hoc analytical and strategic projects as needed.

Qualifications

Strong academic background from a top‑tier Finance or STEM related undergraduate or master’s degree program.

2-6 years of finance experience in asset backed lending, private equity, or structured finance, ideally in investment banking or buyside.

Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving capability, with strong financial modeling skills, attention to detail, and comfort working with complex data.

Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, concise assessments of investment risk and relative value.

Self‑motivated and adaptable, with intellectual curiosity and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

Demonstrated work ethic and genuine interest in asset‑backed finance, structured credit, or related investment strategies.

Proficiency in Excel; experience with financial modeling tools and data analysis platforms is a plus.
