Plant Director

A Tier 1 automotive supplier is seeking a decisive and transformational Plant Director to lead the turnaround of a high-volume manufacturing facility. This confidential opportunity is ideal for a proven leader with a track record of stabilizing underperforming operations, driving cultural change, and delivering rapid, sustainable results.

Position Summary

The Plant Director will be responsible for leading a full operational turnaround, restoring performance across safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role requires a hands‑on leader who can quickly assess gaps, implement structure and accountability, and rebuild a high-performing team in a fast‑paced, customer‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of plant operations including production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and supply chain.
• Diagnose operational inefficiencies and execute a structured turnaround plan with clear milestones.
• Establish discipline around daily management, accountability, and performance metrics.
• Drive immediate improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
• Stabilize customer relationships.
• Build, coach, and, when necessary, restructure the leadership team to support performance expectations.
• Own plant P&L with a strong focus on cost containment, efficiency, and margin recovery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field
• 7–10+ years of leadership experience in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing
• Proven success leading plant turnarounds or significant performance recoveries
• Deep knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and SPC
• Experience in high-volume production environments
• Strong financial acumen with direct P&L ownership
• Demonstrated ability to lead through change, build accountability, and drive cultural transformation
