Babylist is a remote-first company with team members across the U.S. and Canada who move fast, think smart, and use AI as part of how they work every day. This role specifically is full-time and based on-site at our New York showroom in SoHo. The schedule is flexible based on business needs and requires evenings, weekends, and some holidays. This role requires a 4-week training period in June at our Beverly Hills showroom. The Role
Babylist is opening its first New York showroom in SoHo, and we need a
Store Manager
to run it. This is a brand new space where expecting parents, grandparents, and gift-givers will walk through room by room to see, touch, and test everything from strollers to cribs to carrier systems. You’ll be the person responsible for making that experience feel effortless, warm, and worth talking about. Day to day, you’ll live on the floor. You’ll run staffing and scheduling for a team of 20+, manage the visual merchandising and product presentation across the space, coordinate with brand partners and events teams who are activating in your showroom, and serve as the on-the-ground voice of the NYC market back to Babylist\'s leadership in LA. Your manager is remote. You\'ll have real autonomy to make decisions, adjust in real time, and shape how this showroom operates from day one. There are no sales goals, no commission, no leaderboard, and no Black Friday. Success here is measured by guest experience quality, team development, and operational consistency. If you\'ve spent your career chasing metrics and need that external structure to stay motivated, this will feel disorienting. If you\'ve always believed great retail is about the experience and wished you could prove it, this is the role. This might not be a fit if you\'re coming from a heavily commission-driven environment and haven\'t worked in a guest-experience-first model before. It also won\'t be the right move if you prefer back-of-house leadership, need a manager on-site every day, or are looking for a corporate retail trajectory at a large legacy brand. We need someone who\'s built for SoHo energy: composed, low-ego, floor-first, and comfortable with high-profile guests, brand activations, and cameras in the space on any given day. Who You Are
5-7+ years managing retail, showroom, or experiential spaces,

for a digitally native or high-growth brand. You know what it takes to build a team, set standards, and create a culture from scratch. Deep NYC retail instincts.
You know the market, the clientele, and the pace. You read a room naturally and adjust on the fly. Proven track record leading and developing frontline teams
through coaching, training, and real-time feedback. You\'ve navigated difficult personnel situations including terminations. Comfortable operating with a remote manager and significant autonomy.
You communicate proactively, make sound judgment calls independently, and keep leadership informed without being chased. Experience hosting brand activations, events, or high-profile guests
in your space while maintaining guest experience and operational standards. You\'re curious about AI and open to using it to improve operations, team effectiveness, and the guest experience. How You Will Make An Impact
Launch and operate the New York showroom from the ground up, establishing the operational playbook, team culture, and guest experience standards for Babylist\'s first East Coast location. Own the showroom floor day-to-day: staffing, scheduling, zone coverage, visual merchandising, product presentation, and real-time operational decisions. Act as the voice of the NYC market back to leadership. Surface guest feedback, product insights, and experience gaps that inform how Babylist evolves its physical retail strategy. Partner with events, brand partnerships, and merchandising teams to execute in-store activations and experiences that bring the Babylist brand to life. Manage operating costs including payroll and labor planning, ensuring efficient and sustainable showroom performance. Translate company goals into showroom-level operations.
