This key position provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of initiatives that involve collaboration with curricular and cocurricular efforts to integrate a comprehensive leadership development program, civic and student community engagement, inclusive excellence, and career preparedness as core elements of student life informed by our CSJ mission and heritage. The role is responsible for providing a transformational experience for students over the course of their undergraduate tenure through our signature women’s leadership program Mount Leads, the Student Government Association, MSMU Votes, overall student involvement, new student transition and community engagement programs that foster service learning and support student success.

Annual Salary Rate Range:
$95,000.00 - $120,000.00
Monthly Salary Rate Range:
$7,916.67 - $10,000.00

Duties and Responsibilities
Oversight and development of Women’s Leadership programs, Community Engagement and Community Ambassadors programs, Student Government, Student Involvement and Inclusion, Orientation, and New Student and Family Transitions areas.
Prepare students for active participation and leadership through a distinctive leadership development program and a wide breadth of involvement opportunities that contribute to a positive learning community. Direct, plan, organize, and supervise a wide variety of student co‑curricular activities and services that integrate personal leadership development with experiential applications, both in the University community and in civic and community settings. Develop and maintain an outcomes‑based programming model, centered on the principles of diversity, inclusion, empowerment, and personal well‑being.
Strategic development and implementation of the signature Women’s Leadership programs (Mount Leads framework and assessment, Leadership Scholars); the Student Government Association and signature MSMU Votes programs (e.g., Constitution Day, All In Democracy Challenge).
Collaborative co‑curricular engagement with Career and Professional Development, Academic Affairs, and the (M) Power initiative. This includes coordination of student conference attendance such as the Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN), Student Leadership Summit, student leadership retreats, Alternative Break offerings and the National Society of Leadership and Success, MSMU Chapter.
Strategic planning, program evaluation, learning outcomes assessment, and student success related research regarding impact of experiential learning.
Financial management of departmental budgets in the interest of quality service delivery and in alignment with divisional/university goals.
Use integrated co‑curricular learning approaches for students through partnerships within Student Affairs and Academic Affairs for the education of the whole person.
Collaborate with the History and Political Science Department to implement the Women’s Leadership Course associated with the Mount Scholars program.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and evaluate direct reports on a regular basis to promote effective student transformational experiences and meet compliance requirements associated with student involvement and inclusion. Hold regular team meetings with staff members of the department.
Work in partnership with the Assistant Director for Student Life Communications for all marketing, digital media, and communication associated with the department.
Rotate co‑lead of Student Life and Leadership Team meetings with other Student Affairs Directors and the Associate Director for Student Life Communications to provide a coordinated approach to the student life and leadership with the Mount Leads framework.
Serve and/or lead Student Affairs, University, or other committees as needed.
Act in a manner that fosters strong collegial relationships throughout the university.
Assist in campus activities and development such as Admissions Events, Homecoming, Leadership Activities, and Institutional Advancement programs.
Required to work some evenings and weekends.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Knowledge
Knowledge of college student leadership development and of programs addressing the breadth of opportunities for leadership development in higher education.
Knowledge of strategic planning, program evaluation, learning outcomes assessment, student engagement, retention, and success models.
Knowledge of new student orientation, student government, clubs and organizations, and student involvement in general.
Working knowledge of staff and student training and supervision, as well as training and development of student managers and leaders.
Working knowledge of inclusive excellence and culturally informed practices related to student development.
Abilities and Skills
Effectively organize, prioritize and oversee multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.
Effectively communicate and teach leadership development subject matter.
Exercise sound judgment and decision‑making.
Display initiative.
Understanding of, and sensitivity to, an ethnically diverse educational environment.
Student‑oriented, flexible team player who can work in a busy office.
Strong oral/written communication, strategic planning, public relations, interpersonal, budget management and supervisory skills.
Education
Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs, women's studies or leadership studies or related degree. Doctorate preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in administering a college program or service. Student Development/Student Affairs program administration preferred.
