Job Overview Field-based sales representative

role located within reasonable distance from the primary city. The position focuses on executing brand strategy, driving sales performance, managing territory and building customer relationships within AbbVie’s therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities

Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed stated goals.

Create pre‑call plans using SMART objectives and perform post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance.

Handle objections, misunderstandings and concerns consistently, encouraging logical calls to action and closing every sales call.

Proactively serve customer needs and expectations, building trusted relationships and achieving win‑win agreements.

Execute call plans that meet call metrics, optimizing coverage and frequency for key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.

Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors and disease states, and share market intelligence with in‑field team, brand team and sales management.

Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers, identifies, develops and maintains disease‑state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business‑related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.

If a bachelor’s degree is not held, at least five (5) years of relevant industry experience with a minimum of three (3) years in the pharmaceutical/health/science sector, and some high‑school education (high school diploma or GED).

Proactive in identifying customer style/behavior and adapting quickly.

Offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and addresses challenges.

Demonstrates in‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource; strong business acumen and strategic thinking.

Works effectively in a matrixed environment, influencing peers, building collaborative partnerships, and leading by example.

Documented success in leadership and support roles with increased responsibility at the district, region or organizational levels.

Proven sales performance track record within therapeutic areas and experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing is preferred.

English language proficiency (verbal and written) required for all non‑English speaking country roles.

Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements, including background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting and state/city licenses.

Compensation range listed is a base pay estimate and may vary based on geography and other factors.

Benefits include paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) for eligible employees.

The role is eligible for short‑term incentive programs.
