
Ophthalmic Assistant

The Ophthalmic Assistant plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care by accurately obtaining and documenting detailed medical histories and performing a variety of ophthalmic tests as directed by the physician. Key responsibilities include conducting preliminary eye assessments, administering diagnostic tests, preparing patients for exams, and ensuring examination rooms and equipment are properly maintained. Additionally, this role supports administrative and business functions to maintain the clinic’s efficient daily operations, contributing to a positive and seamless patient experience.

Certifications / Licenses Preferred COA, but not required. (We will help you get certified if you aren’t already).
Experience Preferred 2 years previous ophthalmic or optometric patient care or medical office, but we are willing to train the right candidate without this experience.
Education High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred associate degree.
Job Duties
Patient workups – obtain and document exam information, perform testing prior to the exam
Special testing as ordered by Physician
Return patient phone calls
Scribing for the doctor(s)
Report completion
Protect patients’ rights by maintaining the confidentiality of personal and financial information
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Extraordinary Customer Service and Team Member Relations – REQUIRED!
Medical experience is a plus, but not required
Multiline phone system experience preferred
