
Manager of Membership Growth & Business Development

This is a hybrid role, with required in-office days each week in Raleigh, North Carolina
The Manager of Membership Growth & Business Development is responsible for developing and administering member recruitment and retention programs and generating revenue from the association’s publications and events.
The candidate for this role must be well organized and passionate about building relationships and identifying personalized strategies to both grow membership and make sales. Must be comfortable speaking with potential members and customers and closing deals. This position requires someone who considers herself or himself social and outgoing to effectively acquire new members and maintain relationships with existing members.
Responsibilities
Development and execution of membership growth and engagement strategies aligned with NCNA’s strategic priorities.
Key contributor to the association’s multifaceted efforts to increase membership and strengthen member engagement and belonging.
Prospecting and follow-through to recruit and retain members to meet monthly growth goals. Any successful candidate for this role must be comfortable regularly cold calling and following up with current, former, and prospective members.
Primary operational liaison with association’s membership marketing partner, implementing strategies and recommendations for membership growth and retention.
Association lead for business development activities such as print and electronic advertising, group membership and other revenue generating partnerships and opportunities.
Assist in promotion and marketing of association events and activities, especially as they relate to member belonging.
Evaluation of membership data to identify areas of opportunity and improvement.

Passion for recruitment, sales, and meeting numerical and financial goals.
Creative thinker and fast learner, ability to communicate ideas effectively.
Self-motivated & proactive (ex: Self-motivated to initiate 40-60 personalized sales/member check-in calls per day).
Proven ability to manage multi-functional or diverse areas of work.
Ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage projects independently.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Excellent people skills and an enthusiastic attitude.
Proven results in membership growth, sales or fundraising.
Resourcefulness in solving problems.
Strong computer skills, including knowledge of standard technology applications and database manipulation.
Ability to work nights or weekends as necessary to attend meetings, events and activities. Occasional overnight travel is required. Reliable, personal transportation is required, along with a clean driving record.
Education and Experience
Relevant bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2-5 years of successful sales or growth-related professional experience; experience in association membership or business development sales is a plus.
Experience in full life cycle sales preferred.
