
IT Director

Pyramid Systems is seeking an Information Technology Director responsible for strategic leadership, execution, and operational excellence of Pyramid Systems’ enterprise technology environment. This role ensures that all IT systems, infrastructure, and services are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with business objectives , while supporting both internal operations and federal client delivery.
The IT Director oversees day-to-day IT operations including cloud and on-prem infrastructure, enterprise applications, network and endpoint security, identity and access management, collaboration platforms, and end-user support. This role establishes and enforces technology standards, policies, and procedures; leads cybersecurity and compliance efforts; manages vendor relationships and budgets; and drives continuous improvement across IT services.
The Director partners closely with executive leadership, business development, HR, security, and delivery teams to support company growth, enable secure operations, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable value. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills are essential to guide the IT team and ensure technology enables Pyramid Systems’ long-term success.
IT Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the enterprise IT strategy aligned with Pyramid Systems’ business goals, growth plans, and federal contracting requirements.
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology investments, risks, and opportunities.
Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff and subordinate managers; establish performance goals and career development plans.
Build scalable IT operating models that support organizational growth and evolving security needs.
IT Operations & Service Delivery
Oversee daily IT operations including infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, collaboration tools, and end-user support.
Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of systems and services.
Establish and maintain IT service management (ITSM) processes (incident, problem, change, asset, and configuration management).
Implement and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs) and operational metrics.
Cloud, Infrastructure & Applications
Lead the design, implementation, and management of hybrid and cloud-based environments.
Oversee lifecycle management of hardware, software, and cloud services.
Ensure effective system integrations and data flows across enterprise platforms.
Drive automation and modernization initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance
Lead enterprise cybersecurity strategy, including identity and access management, endpoint protection, network security, vulnerability management, and incident response.
Oversee compliance with applicable frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, SOC, FedRAMP‑adjacent controls as applicable).
Partner with internal and external stakeholders on audits, assessments, and remediation activities.
Maintain business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response plans; conduct periodic testing.
Vendor, Budget & Contract Management
Manage IT vendors, managed service providers, licensing agreements, and technology contracts.
Develop and manage the IT budget; forecast future needs and optimize cost efficiency.
Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to support business and security objectives.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with HR, Finance, Security, Legal, and Delivery teams to support enterprise initiatives.
Provide technical guidance and oversight for internal and client‑facing projects as needed.
Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Manages subordinate managers and/or senior professionals who exercise significant independence.
Often heads one or more functional departments.
Plans, conducts, and supervises complex or multiple high‑impact projects.
Evaluates and determines changes to methods, standards, and procedures within assigned areas.
Responsible for hiring, performance evaluations, compensation recommendations, and application of company policies.
Education & Experience
14+ years of experience with a Master’s degree or
16+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 6 years in a people‑management or senior leadership capacity.
Technical & Operational Expertise
Strong knowledge of cloud services and enterprise platforms, including Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, and modern identity and security frameworks.
Experience managing hybrid IT environments (cloud and on‑premises).
Solid understanding of networking, endpoint management, collaboration tools, and enterprise applications.
Experience managing or coordinating with outsourced IT providers and MSPs.
Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with or hands‑on experience supporting compliance and certification frameworks such as
ISO 27001 / ISO 20000
SOC 2
NIST 800‑53 / 800‑171
Similar security, risk, or IT service management standards.
Hands‑on cybersecurity, governance, risk, or compliance background, including audit preparation and remediation.
Experience implementing or managing ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Freshservice).
Experience supporting federal clients or operating in a government contracting environment.
Knowledge of zero‑trust architecture, modern endpoint security, and identity‑centric security models.
Additional Requirements
Must reside in or be willing to commute to the DMV area.
Ability to work onsite at least one day per week (and more frequently as business needs require).
Must have government contracting/federal experience.
The below listed pay range for this position is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The final offered salary will be influenced by a host of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
Pay Range: USD $160,000.00/Yr.
