Nuclear Mechanical Engineer – Plant Modifications Position Summary Responsible for the design, evaluation, and implementation of mechanical system modifications supporting nuclear power plant operations. Ensures all engineering changes comply with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and plant performance objectives while enhancing long-term reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement mechanical design changes, including engineering change packages
Perform engineering analyses (stress, thermal, hydraulic, structural) to support modifications
Prepare and review calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation
Support evaluations under 10 CFR 50.59 and applicable regulatory requirements
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated design solutions
Provide technical support for installation, testing, and startup activities
Ensure compliance with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements, ASME codes, and plant procedures
Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, vendor reviews, and outage activities
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited University
3–10+ years of relevant experience in commercial nuclear industry
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (piping, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, HVAC), design change processes, and engineering calculations.
