Position will begin August 16, 2026, and is a 9‑month appointment (potentially extendable to 11‑month with additional responsibilities). It is a professional‑track, full‑time instructor position; the load is 8 courses per academic year (possible 3/3/1 with 11‑month).

Position Description The faculty of the School of Visual Art and Design invites applications for a full‑time professional‑track Instructor to lead and support the expansion of the award‑winning Graphic Design and Illustration (GD+I) BFA program through teaching, mentorship, and service. Responsibilities include:

Teaching courses across the design curriculum, including introductory courses in design technology and typographic design, and developing new courses in entrepreneurship and business strategies for creatives.

Mentoring students and maintaining and managing the Digital Print Lab.

Participating in curriculum development and collaborating with faculty and adjunct instructors.

Additional responsibilities for the optional administrative appointment include managing the Digital Print Lab and contributing to department leadership.

Required Education and Experience

MFA, MDes, or PhD in graphic design, illustration, or a closely related field by the start date, with expertise in the discipline of graphic design, current design technology, and collaboration with faculty.

Substantive professional experience in graphic design if holding an advanced degree beyond the baccalaureate.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional experience in entrepreneurship, business strategies for creatives, and teaching relevant courses.
